Wii doubt it

As every one of my dear readers know, I recently gots myself a Wii. And what fun it has been! But everyone knows that already, so I’ll post about something related to it instead.
Browsing the aisles of a Tesco megastore, passing rows of £8 tents from the Value range and wondering just how many drones China was willing to sacrifice in its quest for glory, I noticed what I mistakenly thought could become the greatest Wii accessory so far. Wrist weights - and cheap ones at that! Any reluctance I had towards shelling out £4.99 for something my inner cynic told me was an impulse buy was soon overcome when I saw the chiselled Adonis on the box who also obviously used them. Of course, I too could be a brawny beecake, and all I had to do was play video games. Recently I had been starting to question whether hours spent playing these things could perhaps be better spent on something productive, like reading a book, or, God forbid, going outside. But I cast aside those aspersions like a zero-g Steven Hawking did his wheelchair and heaved them into my trolley, dreaming of biceps I could crush ned’s heads with as easily as crushing the Value grapes I also bought.
So, a few weeks on I’m pleased to say I haven’t put off using them at all, and the effect has been tremendous. I haven’t put off wearing them, telling myself that it would be “better to warm up without them first”. Nor have I pretended I can’t find them, or had any trouble lifting my arms to put them on in the first place. The effect has been miraculous, and my Wii fitness regime has taken me to new heights of personal physical achievement.
Sadly, the impending energy crisis has forced me to stop my Wii exercise workouts. I cannot continue with a clear conscience knowing I am contributing to a future resource poor Mad Max style nightmare dystopian future (although this is my favourite kind of sci-fi I’d prefer it to stay that way). This means that the next time you see me, my newly found rippling torso will have returned to the crumbling edifice you’re all more used to.
